When to seek help

Common symptoms of when your horse or dog may benefit from a McTimoney treatment are as follows:


  • Uneven wear of shoes
  • Unexplained deterioration in usual performance
  • Resistances (e.g. napping, bucking, refusing, rearing)
  • Unlevelness (especially behind)
  • Sore or cold backs
  • Asymmetry (e.g. stiffness on one rein)
  • Uneven muscle development or atrophy
  • Grumpiness when tacking up



  • Difficulty getting in and out of cars or climbing stairs
  • Reluctance to exercise
  • Crying out when getting up
  • Stiffness or pain after exercise
  • Signs of discomfort or pain when being fussed





  • Lameness after a trauma where alternative causes have been ruled out
  • Limb dragging
  • Changes in behaviour
